We are starting to build a foundation for addition and subtraction by learning to compose and decompose numbers. Today we learned to play a new math center game. We picked a number card from 4 -10 and counted that many mini erasers in a ten frame. We showed how to decompose the number by breaking the group into two smaller groups. We told our partner how many mini erasers were in each smaller group. You can practice this with your child at home with coins, buttons, goldfish crackers, or other small items!
